Finally... the Biden family has a cat. The office of the first US lady, Jill Biden, announced that the family has joined it, in the White House, with a new member, the two-year-old cat, Willow, with white and gray hair and stripes.

Michael La Russa, a spokesman for the first lady, a middle school teacher, said she named the cat Willow after her hometown of Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.

He added that Mrs. Biden had announced in April that the family was preparing to receive a cat.

He said that the cat with gray eyes and short hair now lives in the White House with "her favorite toys, her favorite pastimes, and a large area to sniff and roam in."

In December, the Biden family welcomed a new dog, the Commander of the German Shepherd, who was four months old at the time.

As for her former dog, Champ, he died earlier in 2021. Before she came to the White House, the family adopted the rescued dog Major, but he now lives with friends in an attached part of the house after reported intoxication incidents that occurred in the White House.
