According to Ehime Prefecture, about 30 chickens were found dead at a poultry farm in Saijo City on the morning of the 30th, and genetic testing revealed a highly pathogenic "H5" avian influenza virus. ..



The prefecture held an urgent countermeasures meeting on the early morning of the 31st to discuss the response, and started disposing of about 130,000 chickens raised in the poultry farm from around 3:30 am.



In addition, the area within a radius of 3 km has been designated as a "restricted movement area" that prohibits the movement of chickens and eggs, and the area within a radius of 10 km has been designated as a "restricted export area" that prohibits shipment from that area.



At the countermeasures meeting, Governor Nakamura instructed that "all offices should be contained to prevent the spread of infection, and the monitoring system should be strengthened in other districts."

This is the first time that bird flu has been confirmed in Ehime Prefecture.



The prefecture has set up eight disinfection points near the boundaries of restricted areas to disinfect livestock-related vehicles.
