“Books for Young People” provides the Big Heart Library with 550 books

As part of its “Once Upon a Time” initiative, the UAE Council on Books for Young People presented 550 books in various knowledge and sciences to the Great Heart Library in the Emirati-Jordanian camp in the Mrajeeb Al Fhood area, the first library of its kind established by Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President of the International Publishers Association, founder and president Honorary Award of the Emirates Council on Books for Young People, in 2014, with the aim of contributing to providing an environment that supports the healthy upbringing of refugee children through reading.

This came during a visit organized by the "Once Upon a Time" initiative for a delegation from the UAE Council on Books for Young People to the library in Jordan, where the initiative continues its efforts in collecting books from the local community and distributing them to children and young people in crisis-stricken areas around the world.

The delegation met with a number of those in charge of the Big Heart Library, and the two sides discussed ways of joint cooperation, projects and workshops that can be worked on to contribute to achieving the library’s mission in creating a conscious generation of refugee children, and creating a knowledge environment that promotes the development of refugee shelters, and consolidates the foundations for the development of this category. Which the "Once Upon a Time" initiative takes full care of to be an element of building and paper in their societies.

Marwa Al-Aqroubi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Emirates Board of Books for Young People, said: “Knowledge is one of the elements of development that societies in general, and the refugee community in particular, need. The most prominent rights advocated by the international community for children, and the Emirates Council on Books for Young People, through the “Once Upon a Time” initiative, is keen to remain a prominent contributor to providing the refugee community with a way that enhances the educational environment for children.
