The James Webb Space Telescope launched to observe the universe

The Ariane 5 rocket launched Saturday at 12:20 GMT from the Space Center in French Guiana, carrying the James Webb telescope into space, an instrument that will revolutionize the field of observing the universe, according to an AFP journalist at the place.

The flight is expected to last 27 minutes, before the telescope, which will be placed on its final orbit path, about 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, separates.

The telescope, developed by NASA with its European and Canadian counterparts, would allow observing the first galaxies that appeared after the Big Bang and deepening understanding of how stars are formed and observing planets outside the solar system.
