The reporter observes

campus food safety incident investigation, can’t be a “confused account”

In September of this year, some students of Dongfang Gold Tower School in Bazhou City, Hebei Province experienced symptoms of varying degrees of nausea and vomiting, which caused more than 100 students to go to the hospital for treatment. Among them, some students were diagnosed with acute glomerulonephritis.

On September 23, Bazhou City issued an investigation conclusion stating that Staphylococcus aureus was detected in some samples through laboratory testing and analysis of specimens in the canteen sample cabinet.

With reference to the relevant provisions of the "National Food Safety Standard Limits of Pathogenic Bacteria in Food (GB29921-2013)", the test results did not exceed the maximum limit of Staphylococcus aureus (1000CFU/g) in the standard.

As a reporter, I conducted interviews and reports on this incident, and I am very concerned about the outcome of the incident.

Recently, some parents reported that the food that children eat the most in the school cafeteria at noon that day is pig heart, but the pig heart is not included in the sampling of the Bazhou Center for Disease Control and Prevention.

Prior to this, the Bazhou Municipal Public Security Bureau had imposed a penalty of 10 days of public security detention on Zong, the legal representative of the school, in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety Law, Public Security Management Punishment Law and other provisions. , Institutions and their staff carry out food safety supervision and inspection, accident investigation and handling, risk monitoring and risk assessment in accordance with the law" and "impede state agency staff from performing their duties in accordance with the law."

These expressions inevitably make some parents wonder whether the food samples have been artificially damaged, resulting in incomplete sampling by the investigation team?

During the interview, I learned from relevant medical experts: the students’ nausea and vomiting are in line with the clinical symptoms of food poisoning caused by Staphylococcus aureus; in addition, Staphylococcus aureus infection can also make people suffer from acute glomerulus. Nephritis.

Combined with expert opinions, one cannot help asking: Is it a food poisoning incident for so many students to vomit and diarrhea?

If the content of Staphylococcus aureus in the food really meets the national standards, why do students react so much in their bodies?

What is the cause of the students' illness?

Was the investigation team's sampling at that time complete?

In the investigation report of Bazhou City, these questions were not fully answered.

For such a campus food safety incident that concerns the health of minors, such an investigation conclusion is inevitably questionable.

In response to the current situation of the investigation, a parent said helplessly: "It has happened for more than two months, and I feel that this incident has never happened." A parent went to the Bazhou City Center for Disease Control to check the vomit of his child at the time. The test report was also rejected by the other party.

The CDC staff said: The report is only given to the government, not to individuals.

Such an approach will only deepen the doubts of the parents, but will not help solve the problem.

Previously, the Ministry of Education has issued several documents requiring all localities to strictly implement the school food safety accountability system, to investigate the causes and responsibilities of school food safety incidents, and to deal with schools and schools that have caused food poisoning incidents due to neglect of management and inadequate implementation of measures. The responsible person must be investigated and dealt with seriously.

Today, there are still many "unsolved mysteries" in the investigation of this incident, which cannot fully answer the doubts of parents and the public.

In this regard, many parents expressed the hope that the relevant departments or higher-level departments of Bazhou City can restart the investigation, answer the above questions, and learn lessons from them to avoid similar incidents.

At the system level, the state has clear regulations on key links such as the overall environmental sanitation of school canteens, facilities and equipment, food procurement and storage, food additive use records, and the qualifications of canteen employees.

As long as the school strictly implements the relevant regulations and the relevant departments perform their supervisory duties, similar sudden campus food safety incidents can be completely avoided.

In the face of food safety incidents that have occurred on campus, detailed and transparent post-event investigations are essential.

In addition, the relevant departments' weekday supervision of school cafeterias cannot be relaxed.

Has the school canteen earnestly implemented the food safety management system, the health examination of the canteen employees, and whether the training is in place?

Every detail related to the health of students cannot be ignored.
