After the death of a couple, presumably in a boat collision on Lake Garda, the authorities in Italy are investigating a crime, according to media reports.

As the news agency Ansa wrote on Sunday, two German tourists are suspected of being involved in the case.

The Carabinieri in Brescia did not initially confirm this information.

The suspects are said to have been on the motorboat that had rammed a small boat near Saló, the media wrote unanimously.

They allegedly drove on without any help.

First, it was said, the body of the local Italian was discovered in the boat early Sunday morning.

After hours of searching, according to Ansa, helpers also found the woman's body in the lake, whose injuries indicate the collision of the two boats.

It will be determined, among other things, for manslaughter and failure to provide assistance.

The deceased was around mid-30s, the age of his girlfriend was given as mid-20s.

According to local media reports, a fisherman discovered the dead man's boat early in the morning.

The incident may have occurred between Salò and San Felice del Benaco on the western side of Lake Garda.

The media and the Carabinieri in Brescia in Lombardy did not initially name details about the suspects and what happened. The alleged cause of the accident should initially have driven away; but were later investigated and interrogated, wrote the newspaper "La Repubblica".
