Let's go to Mexico today.

To restart a dying economy, and despite a very heavy death toll from the coronavirus, it is one of the last countries in the world not to have closed its borders to tourism, during the pandemic.

Its beaches and laissez-faire have attracted many Western tourists fleeing winter and sanitary restrictions.

Tourists who too often see Mexico as a refuge where they can ignore the virus.

The authorities say they are overwhelmed by the flippancy of these reckless travelers.
