Britney Spears' controversial case ... is on the court again

The Britney Spears case was back in court on Thursday with little progress made in the increasingly controversial case of how many others can guard the personal and business affairs of the pop star.

Los Angeles Superior Court judge Brenda Penney said the singer's father and a newly appointed trust company should collaborate to create an investment plan that benefits Spears.

Spears made it clear last year that she no longer wanted her father, Jimmy, to interfere in her affairs, but last December the judge extended his mandate until next September.

Jimmy Spears was appointed guardian in 2008 after the singer was hospitalized for psychiatric treatment.

Thursday's hearing, which Spears did not attend in person, came after the broadcast of a TV documentary last week that led to further scrutiny of the case and the collapse of the pop star that was widely reported in the media.

On Monday, Glamor magazine published an apology saying, "We are all responsible for what happened to Britney Spears. We may not have brought her down, but we financed it."
