Under the slogan “Arabic… the tongue of the world”, for the eighth year in a row, the activities of the “Arabic” initiative, organized by the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation annually, were launched with the aim of promoting the culture of communication in the Arabic language through social networking sites, and urging people to use it in all channels. .

The activities of the initiative will continue until the 18th of this year, coinciding with the celebration of the International Day of the Arabic Language, which was set by the United Nations on December 18 of each year.

Jamal bin Huwaireb, Executive Director of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation, said: “The Arabic initiative has contributed over the past years to promoting the use of the Arabic language among all segments of society, and it clearly showed the extent of the Arab public’s keenness to protect the Arabic language from the threat of marginalization and underutilization. This is something that we clearly see every year through the great interaction with the initiative's activities.

He added: “Amidst the emergency conditions that the world is witnessing due to the Corona pandemic, and with the measures of social distancing, most people in our societies have turned to reading, which has become a haven for them to learn about everything new, especially Arabic content on the Web, as our Arabic language has contributed to spreading knowledge in In all areas and on all platforms, and today the (Arabic) initiative comes in its eighth year to support these efforts once again, and to confirm the flexibility of the Arabic language and its ability to keep pace with all developments at all times and places, through a well-studied package of events specially prepared to suit safety procedures and to maintain Individual health, and to reach the largest possible extent in the countries of the world ».

The agenda of the initiative's activities is full of virtual interactive activities, in order to preserve the preventive measures taken by the state to limit the spread of the Coronavirus, as the activities are launched this year through a single platform located in Mirdif City Center in Dubai, and will continue until the 18th of this year.

The platform's activities include reading books and recording video clips documenting this, in addition to communicating with an Arabic-speaking robot that captures instant photos for the audience, as well as the effectiveness of writing the names of visitors to the platform in various Arabic fonts, in addition to a number of competitions and other activities.

The initiative also organizes another set of competitions through the initiative's social media channels.

Through the "Arabic" platform, the virtual "Obeid's Journey" is also launched, through which the character of "Obaid" will make a trip around the world, through which questions are asked to the participating audience. The activities also include virtual workshops to teach Arabic to non-native speakers, which were launched by the Arabic initiative. This year, at the beginning of this month, the program "Fasha Al-Arab" presented by the initiative "Arabic" in cooperation with the "Voice of the Arabs" radio in the Arab Republic of Egypt is launched, and in each episode it is defined by one of the pure Arabs with a simple explanation of a word contained in a poetic or prose text. ;
