[Explanation] On December 11, in the receiving shaft on the south side of Chang'an Avenue in Beijing, the cutterhead of the "Zhengyang No. 2" shield machine with a diameter of 6.28 meters broke ground. The third phase of the Beijing Metro Line 8 project The double-line connection between Qianmen Station and Wangfujing Station was realized. This marked the completion of the Metro Line 8 tunnel section that runs through Beijing’s north-south central axis.

  [Explanation] Beijing Metro Line 8 is about 47 kilometers long and runs north-south. It basically coincides with the central axis of Beijing. It currently runs in two sections, the northern section starts from Zhuxinzhuang Station in the north to the National Art Museum Station in the south, and the southern section is in the north. From Zhushikou Station to the south to Yinghai Station.

This time, the last section of Line 8 is 1.65 kilometers long. It is constructed with a mud-water balance shield machine. The shield machine starts from Qianmen Station and tunnels along Qianmen East Avenue and Taijichang Avenue to the south of Chang'an Avenue. Side reception.
