Damage over 53 million yen fraud case Beware of unilateral contact emails October 16th, 7:31

A 61-year-old man in Saitama Prefecture was deceived by an e-mail saying that the usage fee of the website that arrived on his smartphone was not paid, and the police investigated it as a fraud case and contacted him unilaterally. We are calling attention to emails asking for.

According to the police, in August, an email was sent to the smartphone of a 61-year-old office worker living in Tsurugashima City, Saitama Prefecture, saying, "We have not confirmed the payment of the usage fee."

I didn't remember the man, but when I called the contact information provided, a man who was in charge of the site's operating company said, "If you pay, everything will be done, so please pay." It means that I transferred 300,000 yen.

After that, a man claiming to be a police officer repeatedly called me saying, "Your smartphone is the source of the virus and causing damage," and I was asked to transfer cash and mail under various names until the 2nd of this month. During that time, a total of 53.2 million yen was deceived 10 times.

The man was told that some of his cash would be returned, but he consulted the police because he had not been contacted.

Police are investigating the case as a fraudulent case and are calling for caution that unilaterally contacted emails are likely to be fraudulent.
