To infinity and beyond!

NASA / Sipa

A little closer to the stars, soon.

Two missions, one American, the other Chinese, aim to crisscross the heliosphere, the enormous gas bubble generated by our sun, and to pass it to reach the interstellar medium.

This same territory which, precisely, gives birth to the stars and is of great interest to the scientific community.

On an unprecedented scale, these projects will take several years to take off and then decades before reaching the frontier of the galactic void, at speeds still impossible today.

Head in the stars, Franck Daninos, the fundamental science expert for

,

tells us all about these probes straight out of a science fiction book.
