He was caught around ten days after his flight.

A 60-year-old man, who escaped from the gendarmerie in early September where he was heard for attempted kidnapping of his wife, was arrested on Sunday, we learned from the Bastia prosecutor's office.

He had fled from the gendarmerie of Ghisonaccia, in Haute-Corse, on September 2 and was found ten days later near Ajaccio, specifies the prosecution, confirming information from France 3 Corse.

Moment of inattention by the investigator

“He is currently presented before an investigating magistrate.

The prosecution requested that he be placed in pre-trial detention, ”explains Stéphanie Pradelle, deputy prosecutor of the Bastia prosecutor's office.

The man had been sentenced in immediate appearance on August 10 to ten months suspended imprisonment and two years of prohibition to approach his wife by the Bastia judicial court for acts of harassment.

He appealed against this decision on August 12.

Just days later, he tried to kidnap his wife, who wanted a divorce.

But this attempt had failed thanks to the intervention of a neighbor.

The man then fled and was arrested two weeks later.

He had been taken into custody at the Ghisonaccia gendarmerie brigade, where he resides.

And he had fled, taking advantage of a moment of inattention from the investigator.

The wife's family did not hide their fear from the local press, believing the woman to be in danger.
