  • Estudio.Europe, in the face of fear of 'contagion' from the second Spanish wave

The latest update of the daily report of the Ministry of Health, published this afternoon, Wednesday, reflects an increase in the total of cases diagnosed in Spain of 8,866, reaching

543,379 cases since the beginning of the pandemic

.

The figure maintains the trend of the previous days, since yesterday's report, Tuesday, showed 8,964 new confirmed cases, a number similar to those published in the latest counts.

On Monday, Health registered 26,560 positives since Friday -the weekend no data is published-, at an average of about 8,850 infections per day.

The new figure for Wednesday therefore confirms

a stagnation in the daily growth of cases

.

The data includes PCRs carried out in previous days and whose positive result has not been made known until the last day, in addition to those carried out in the last 24 hours whose result is already known.

If we limit ourselves to this last figure, the number of diagnoses made since yesterday remains at 4,410.

Most of them, in Madrid (1,728), whose numbers remain very high and far from the rest of the communities.

It is followed by the Basque Country, with 633.

Madrid is also the community that has registered the most hospitalizations in the last seven days, 396, followed by Andalusia, 379. In the last 24 hours, a total of

1,107 people have been admitted to Spain by Covid, while 884 have been given high in that same time

.

Madrid is the community where more people remain admitted, 2,506, with 299 in intensive care.

It also continues to be the autonomy with the greatest hospital pressure, since 17% of its beds are dedicated to Covid patients.

In Spain, the percentage of beds occupied by the epidemic is 7.3% for the country as a whole.

As for deaths, the day's report increases the number of deaths from Covid-19 to 29,620, of which 34 have been registered on the last day (the global official figure does not include those who died in residences or those who presented compatible symptomatology not confirmed by PCR).

Madrid is the community that has reported the most deaths with a date of death in the last seven days, 80, followed by Andalusia, 37. In the country as a whole,

the number of deaths in the same period amounts to 246

.

Just a week ago, on Wednesday, September 2, that same data added 177 deaths for all of Spain in the previous seven days.

Incidence also stagnates

Spain continues to lead Europe, as usual for weeks, in the cumulative incidence of the virus in the last 14 days.

In the new report, Spain reaches

233.3 cases

per 100,000 inhabitants, followed by France, with 122.3.

The Spanish figure reflects

a slight decline compared to the previous day, 236.3

.

In the Community of Madrid, the one with the highest transmission, the cumulative incidence is

528.7 in Wednesday's report, compared to 543.78 on Tuesday

, which could indicate, if the trend is confirmed, that it has already

peaked

in this region.

The Basque Country (378.53), Navarra (376.48) and La Rioja (373.42) present very similar data to each other and are, after Madrid, the ones with the highest incidence.

More restrictions ... and strike in Madrid

The data comes on a day when

Salamanca

and

Valladolid

have announced that, if the judiciary so endorses it, they

will expand their prevention measures for another week

.

The restrictions affect wakes and funerals, religious and civil celebrations, capacity of hotel and commercial establishments and other cultural and sports activities, as well as family gatherings.

In Madrid, the main union of doctors in the region, Amyts, has announced a strike throughout the community over the "serious situation" of primary care.

As explained by the union, it will formally register the call tomorrow, Thursday,

after the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, did not respond to the request for a meeting

, according to the same sources.
