A dark plateau, distressing music, fifteen questions and a million euros at stake. The principle of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? is perhaps the simplest in the history of game shows, and that's why it has won over over 100 countries around the world. Created in 1998 in the United Kingdom, the show has yet suffered a huge scandal three years after its creation, with the cheating of a candidate who left with a million pounds in his pocket.

On September 9 and 10, 2001, Charles Ingram faced host Chris Tarrant. Question after question, the candidate follows the correct answers until winning the jackpot. A few days later, the production realizes that the player does not appeal only to his knowledge, but relies on two accomplices. His wife, located in the audience, and another player, waiting to be selected on the set, cough when Charles Ingram says the correct answer.

This incredible story was the subject of a series, Quiz , broadcast in April across the Channel. The fiction with Matthew Macfadyen, Sian Clifford, Mark Bonnar and Michael Sheen, and cut into three episodes, made a hit in the United Kingdom with nearly ten million viewers glued to their small screen. In its back-to-school program, TF1 announced that it had acquired the broadcasting rights for the program. Will the French get so caught up in the game? For now, no release date has been communicated.
