Jérémy, 15, does not want to be considered as the new generation Cloclo - Bureau233 / ITV / TF1

  • Season 7 of  The Voice Kids  opened this Saturday evening with the discovery of (young) talents more gifted than each other.
  • A teenager particularly caught the attention of coaches thanks to his voice similar to that of an adult, and very close to that of Claude François.
  • Jérémy, 15, delivers his impressions 20 Minutes  after his performance and qualification in Jenifer's team.

He sings Claude François like Claude François… But it's not Claude François! This Saturday evening, for the return of The Voice Kids on the air, TF1 viewers were surprised by Jérémy, a young man of 15 years old. Come to interpret The Unhappy Singer , the teenager also surprised the bench of coaches with his voice strangely similar to that of Cloclo. "Is that a joke?" Oh no, it's not a joke, ”even launched Jenifer, turning to the one who is now part of his team.

This is not the first time that Jérémy has participated in a television show. His voice made the buzz after his appearance in Le QG , the program of Guillaume Pley and Jimmy Labeeu, then knows the same fate in an issue of C'est mon choise , presented by Evelyne Thomas. For 20 Minutes , the young singer looks back on his time on the show, his love for his idol and his special voice.

How did you arrive on The Voice  ?

It was a person from the production who contacted me following my visit to Guillaume Pley's show on YouTube. I thought about it for a while and thought it was the right thing to do. I had even thought about participating in The Voice Kids in previous years but I found that it was not the right time, that I was not at the top of my level. This time, I had worked well, I've been working tirelessly for five years.

We saw you on the shows Le QG and C'est mon choise . Was The Voice Kids scene the most impressive?

Yes and no, because a scene is a scene. The important thing is not the stress but the pleasure. The four coaches in front of me were not stars but people like everyone else. On the other hand, on all the broadcasts, I stress when it comes time to broadcast. TF1 broadcast an extract from my performance a few days ago, and I was reassured with the first feedback. But I also like when there is bad, I ask there to be because it allows me to keep my feet on the ground.

At the time of your performance, the coaches think you are an adult. Do you understand their reaction?

At first, I didn't really realize it and when we were backstage, we heard the little high-pitched voices, I told myself that I was different. It is precisely. Age is nothing in life. I even find it better than people to think I'm an adult because it prevents me from being labeled.

How did you get that special voice?

It's natural, it's my voice. I did not get up one morning imitating Claude François' voice. It's unintentional. Besides, I don't think I have the voice of Claude François. I just know it's mine. But I chose one of his songs for the casting on purpose because it's a song you don't hear much anymore and it feels good to listen to it again. Today, I no longer record Claude François songs but I still do them on stage. I started with him, so it's important to do that. But on stage, there are also my own songs.

Have you ever thought about signing up for Incroyable Talent  before going through  The Voice Kids  ?

I almost did the show, the same year as Jean-Baptiste Guégan, moreover. I was younger, I had passed the first castings, but I did not go further because I was told that there were too many children that season. If I had made the show and if I had qualified for the final, we could have started the war again between Claude François and Johnny Hallyday, who were rivals. It would have been funny (laughs).

Without revealing too much about the rest of the show, are you going to open up to other universes?

I like singing lyrics songs, I really like romantic songs, engaging songs. This makes it possible to convey different messages that cannot be conveyed in words. I am someone who has difficulty expressing myself with speech and I need to feel what I am singing. If we sing a song that is contrary to the emotion that we can feel, it is not going to be sincere.

What does Claude François represent in your life?

It's a model. Everything I have been able to do artistically is inspired by Claude François, but I don't just listen to his songs. It was often the case before, less today because I listened to too much before. But I always have the pleasure of listening to them again.

You even have all his body language, it's impressive!

It was not my goal at the base. When I was a kid, I really liked doing his choreography. We all tried to look like a star… But my name is Jérémy Thomas, my name is not Claude François. The real pleasure of living the scene is being yourself. It is important.
