Singer Kendji Girac. - TF1

  • The new season of The Voice Kids is launched this Saturday evening on TF1.
  • Kendji Girac arrives in the coach chair. He officiates this season alongside Jenifer, Soprano and Patrick Fiori.
  • "20 Minutes" tells you behind the scenes of this arrival.

Patrick Fiori learned the news last fall as he walked the streets of Ajaccio, his phone screwed to his ear. He uttered a great "Aaaaaaaah" of relief. "What's the matter, Monsieur Fiori?" A passerby would have worried. "Nothing, I can not tell you", retorted the singer, mysterious. In fact, the voice on the other end of the line had just revealed the name of the artist who would replace Amel Bent in the role of coach for the next season of The Voice Kids  : Kendji Girac. Was there really anything to be worried about, to put your spleen in court-bouillon and to groan with satisfaction in front of the taken aback Corsicans?

Yes, to believe Patrick Fiori, who officiates in the telecrochet of TF1 for six seasons: “The core of coach is invaluable, it contributes to the good progress of the emission. You need good, sincere, passionate people who love music, children, who are passionate. The interpreter of Color Gitano therefore seemed to meet the criteria required to sit on one of the red armchairs alongside Jenifer, Soprano and Fiori.

“Patrick wondered how it would be possible to get along as well as with Amel. The four of them were incredible, ass and shirt, they split their mouths, ”confirms Mathieu Notebaert, communications director of ITV Studios France, the company that produces The Voice Kids . He adds: “When you compose a quartet of coaches, there has to be this chemistry. So, with With Kendji, we were sure of our shot, we know him by heart, he's almost our child at The Voice . He will bring something different and very strong. "

"We all know each other, it uninhibits more"

There was little doubt that the new kid was going to be welcomed with open arms by his three acolytes. Soprano, Jenifer, Patrick Fiori and Kendji are not strangers to each other. They see each other outside of the TV shows and get together from time to time to have a bite to eat. "We all know each other, it's more uninhibited, during filming, it's fluid", supports Jenifer. All four are also from the south, it brings people together. "It's going to be very lively, we're all hot-blooded," warns the singer.

During his baptism of fire on the first blind auditions of The Voice Kids , in November, Kendji Girac was not yet leading wide. “He arrived as usual with a lot of elegance and delicacy, a bit like a Zidane. He's a quiet boy. We felt he was walking on eggshells, remembers Patrick Fiori. There is always a little restraint at the beginning when you arrive in this kind of fairly beefy and immense show. "

Kendji had refused to be a coach

Kendji Girac, found himself projected six years back, when he himself took his first steps as a candidate for The Voice . He necessarily had a special empathy for all these kids who came in turn to try their luck in the TF1 show. “At the time, I was really stressed, it was the first time I sang on a stage, so I imagined that it must be the same for children, he says. I lived more or less the same times, I think I was in a good position to be able to give them some little advice. "

The production offered this coaching role to Kendji Girac several years ago. He then refused. “I didn't have enough experience yet to judge other people's singing,” he explains. When it was offered to me again, I was finishing my third tour, I was starting my fourth album. I remembered everything I had done in The Voice in 2014. I wanted to experience strong moments. I felt ready. So he said yes. Much to the relief of Patrick Fiori.
