The ban on public gatherings of more than 50 people is fixed.

But at the same time, the government presents proposals for certain reliefs.

- We must ensure that it does not unnecessarily hit activities that can be conducted in a safe way, says Minister of the Interior Mikael Damberg.

Two proposals were presented

Mikael Damberg presented two proposals to facilitate events with seated audiences. The first applies to restaurants and restaurants.

- Today, restaurants are affected not only by the law's requirements, but also by the ban on public gatherings. By exempting restaurants from the Prohibition Ordinance, we get an arrangement where an activity does not have to comply with two different regulations depending on which activity occurs.

The second proposal is about introducing facilities for larger culture and sporting events with seated audiences.

- It is about preparing to make exceptions for certain events with seated audiences that can be arranged in an infectious way.

The proposal means that distances of two meters will continue to be followed. Mikael Damberg did not want to give an exact figure for a new upper ceiling, but is awaiting views from the Public Health Agency.

The two proposals will now be submitted for consultation and the idea is that they will become a reality on 1 October.

New crisis package for sports and culture

Amanda Lind also presented a proposal for a new crisis package for the economically pressured sports and cultural sector: one billion for sports and 1.5 billion kronor for culture in 2020.

- Today's announcement of changes is an important signal, at the same time I and the government are aware that this does not solve all the sector's problems, says Minister of Culture Amanda Lind.
