Xinhua News Agency, Lanzhou, August 21 (Reporter Zhang Yujie, He Wen) Dunhuang Research Institute and Sichuan Museum recently signed a cooperation agreement. The two sides will strengthen cooperation in cultural relics protection, academic exchanges, and cultural and creative product development.

It is understood that the two parties will jointly launch cultural relic protection and research projects, cultural relic resource utilization projects, etc., and jointly build a large domestic and foreign exhibition exchange platform with Silk Road culture and sculpture art as the theme, and create a cultural tourism development community.

Zhao Shengliang, director of the Dunhuang Academy, said that the two sides will work together to make the cultural relics hidden in the museum "live".

Dunhuang has a long history with Sichuan. In the 1940s, Zhang Daqian held a copy exhibition of Dunhuang murals in Sichuan. When the Dunhuang cultural relics protection business just started, a group of aspiring young people such as Duan Wenjie and Sun Ruxu voluntarily came to the depths of the desert from the "land of abundance" and gradually grew into backbone experts. In 2016, the number of visitors to the "Soul of the Silk Road·Dunhuang Art Exhibition" held in Chengdu exceeded one million.
