Gaoan Suona in Dianjiang, Chongqing is thick and round, delicate and long. In the old days, Suona was inseparable from weddings and funerals in Dianjiang. After more than 150 years of development, Gao An Suona has transformed from a simple and practical performance into a precious folk art.
Long Ronghua, a 66-year-old man from Gaoan Town on the Longxi River of Dianjiang River, is the fourth-generation heir of Gaoan Suona and heir of Chongqing Municipal Intangible Heritage Gaoan Suona. He started learning suona when he was 9 years old. After decades of training and innovation, he developed the skill of blowing two suona with one nose and one mouth.
Long Ronghua and his apprentices also innovated performing stunts such as exchanging blowing and blowing two suona at the same time. (Jia Nan)
