The history of the folk parks - in 60 seconds

Huskvarna Folkets Park has had a tough 2020. The idea was that the folk park, which has existed since 1925, would be filled with artists such as Lars Winnerbäck, Magnus Uggla and The Ark this summer.

But instead, the corona pandemic struck with full force and everything was canceled or has been moved to next year.

- We have almost no events that are under 50 people. We have had a few annual meetings, but most of them have been postponed or completely canceled, says Conny Månsson, director of Huskvarna Folkets Park.

"Loses 10-12 million"

Folkets park also usually has car meetings during the summer that attract a total of almost 50,000 people, so the economic situation is now tough.

- We can do it, but it's not much more either, it also depends on how long this lasts. We will lose 10-12 million this year if this continues and then we had a turnover of 16 million last year.

Some of the concerts have been moved to next year, but that does not save everything.

- We have sold a lot of tickets to concerts that we have moved and that money remains, which means that the liquidity is good, but at the same time we get nothing next year. We have already received that money.

Employees on short-term leave

However, there are flashes of light, says Månsson.

- We still have our school operations where we have fixed rents and that money means that we can manage the foundation for the park.

Huskvarna Folkets park has three full-time employees, all of whom have been on short-term leave and work two days a week.

- We have received cultural grants from the municipality and they do not take it back. Since then, we have received some from the Swedish Arts Council and we are looking for adjustment support.

Conny Månsson hopes that the restrictions will change by the end of the year at the latest.

- We hope that it will start in January, because then we have booked new again, he says.
