Television series cleans out blackface

This is a section from 2012 where an actor with so-called blackface glimpses when the character Dwight celebrates the traditional Dutch Christmas with a black-eyed "Zwarte Piet", which causes his colleagues in the office to protest.

Before that, streaming services picked up an entire section of the comedy series "Community" where Ken Jeong's character Mr Chang plays the role-playing game "Dungeons & Dragons" black painted as a "dark elf".

Earlier, several sections of "30 Rock" and "Scrubs" were removed because they had scenes with dark-skinned white actors.

This week, host Jimmy Kimmel also apologized for using the blackface in sketches during the 1990s, reports CNN.

"Blackface" is from the beginning an American form of theater makeup for stereotypically portraying dark-skinned, and is nowadays regarded as racist.
