Eight people have died in the last 24 hours from coronavirus in Spain in the last hours, according to figures released this Friday by Health. A figure that almost triples the three on the previous day. The total number of deceased now stands at 28,338 , of whom 11 have lost their lives in the last week. Most correspond to Castilla y León, with seven deaths. Asturias reports one and Madrid two.

The figures for this Friday also record 191 new infections , representing an increase of 34 cases (on Thursday 157 were reported). One more day, the data for Castilla-La Mancha are not included for technical reasons. By communities, most of the cases are located in Aragon (72), followed by Madrid (41), and Catalonia (36). In total, there are already 247,905 people affected by Covid-19 in our country since the pandemic began.

By autonomous communities, according to Health data, the Community of Madrid is the region that accumulates the most deaths, with 8,418; followed by Catalonia, with 5,668; and Castilla La Mancha, which reports 3024; Castilla y León, with 2,783; the Basque Country, with 1,555; the Valencian Community, with 1,432; Andalusia, with 1426. Likewise, 912 people have died in Aragon; 619 in Galicia; 528 in Navarra; 519 in Extremadura; 365 in La Rioja; 334 in Asturias; 224 in the Balearic Islands; 216 in Cantabria; 162 in the Canary Islands; 147 in Murcia; 4 in Ceuta; and 2 in Melilla.

As for the number of hospitalizations, 147 people have entered in the last seven days (one more than yesterday), with which there are already a total of 125,030 since the start of the pandemic. Of these, 12 patients have entered the ICU in the last week, although in the last 24 hours no admission has been registered in this hospital unit, so the total remains at 11,651.

In addition, according to the Health report, in the week of June 15-21, 26,942 suspected cases were identified in primary care and 24,146 in hospitals . The percentage of diagnostic tests carried out amounts to 91% in both groups. The average number of close contacts of these people is 4 (the range is between two and six). Only 4% of these close contacts that have been followed during that period of time have developed symptoms and 170 of them are people who have been confirmed as cases of Covid-19.

At the European level, Spain remains in third position by number of infections (247,905), only behind Russia (620,794) and the United Kingdom (307,980). Italy continues in fourth position, with 239,706 cases; and Turkey outnumbers Germany, which used to be in fifth place, with 193,115 infections. The country with the highest number of deaths is still the United Kingdom (43,230), followed by Italy (34,678) and France (29,752).
