The government announced a new plan for the hospital on Sunday. If the latter has often been greeted with enthusiasm, the infectious disease doctor at Pitié-Salpêtrière in Paris Alexandre Bleibtreu has vehemently criticized the health authorities for their deafness in the face of the demands of hospital staff.

INTERVIEW

On Sunday, the Minister of Health announced the establishment of a new plan for the hospital, the "Ségur de la Santé", while caregivers are still fighting against the epidemic of coronavirus. If some, like the infectious disease specialist Éric Caumes, praised this reaction from the government and expressed their optimism, others fear yet another disillusionment. Infectious disease doctor at the Paris hospital of Pitié-Salpêtrière, Alexandre Bleibtreu shared his indignation on Sunday at the microphone of Europe 1: "The French health system, public and private, was only due to dedication and staff engagement, "he said. "It was not the system that held out, it was the people who held out."

Government announcements for caregivers did not calm the resentment of Alexandre Bleibtreu. According to him, the ills of the hospital have been known for a long time and communicated by the staff for already a year. It does not fail to point out that French nurses are in 25th place in the OECD in terms of remuneration.

"Incredible insult"

He especially denounces the leitmotif of the executive conveying the idea that the hospital crisis is an unfortunate legacy of the previous five years. "I would like Mr. Macron to say that he inherits a situation, but I believe he was a minister during the previous five years. A minister who was in charge of part of the finances," he recalls. .

Regarding the promises of bonuses and medals for caregivers, the doctor protested once again: "My colleagues in all trades fought for their fellow men, for the humans in their charge, not to have a charm and parading on the Champs-Élysées. " Alexandre Bleibtreu goes so far as to speak of an "incredible insult" and evokes the many exceptions that could prevent the allocation of bonuses.

"Hope gives life ... We saw it, we survived the first wave," he says again, skeptical, and awaiting a reaction from the authorities worthy of the name. "Hopefully things will change (...) and that we will not be disappointed again", he concludes.
