INTERVIEW

"It was a small gift to our audience, which we missed." Tuesday evening on M6 is broadcast the show Grandeur nature , Bodin's, famous duo composed of Vincent Dubois and Jean-Christian Fraiscinet. For more than 20 years, the two humorists have traveled around France in the guise of Maria (Vincent Dubois), an 87-year-old peasant, and Christian (Jean-Christian Fraiscinet), her son, 55 years old and old boy. They were Tuesday guests of Philippe Vandel in Culture-Media .

1.2 million spectators

What was originally a life-size show presented on a farm in Touraine has become a must in the Zenith of France. But the essence of the duo has not changed. On stage, they recreate a barn, a pond, and a chicken coop, installing "scent cannons" to restore a farm atmosphere. Their show has already gathered 1.2 million spectators. Their communication is however summary: in 2009, they had filled the Olympia with an advertising budget ... of 8.90 euros.

Proclaimed spokespersons for "yellow vests"

Among the ingredients for success is humor, of course, but not only. During their performances, the two humorists often talk about current events. "Bodin's are people who say out loud what everyone thinks in a low voice," says Vincent Dubois. "We are not here to send a political message, but the very theme of the show, the value of the land, resourcefulness, sometimes becomes one. But we did not do that," adds Jean-Christian Fraiscinet.

In 2019, many "yellow vests" had made Bodin's their spokespersons. "Being a spokesperson for the people we never listen to is fine with us. And it's also a way, like we did during confinement, of applauding the people we never talk to, the caregivers for example. "
