At 8:30 pm on May 6th, Beijing time, the Chinese Embassy in Mexico and the Shanghai Foreign Affairs Office jointly organized a video conference on the fight against the New Coronary Pneumonia Epidemic. Wu Fan, member of the expert group of the leading group, vice president of Fudan University School of Medicine, leader of Shanghai New Coronary Pneumonia Medical Treatment Expert Group, and director of the Department of Infection, Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, attended the meeting.

Some Mexican experts asked whether the vaccine research is in the early, middle or late stages?

Zhang Wenhong said that there are 180 vaccines in the world under study, two vaccines in the United States are in Phase III clinical research, and two vaccines in China are in Phase II clinical research.

According to the current phase III clinical research schedule and China's phase II clinical research schedule, the world's earliest vaccine results should be announced at the end of this year or early January next year. If all the data is satisfactory, it can be declared to pass the US FDA or China CFDA, it should be between March and June next year.

"If I have too high expectations for vaccines now, I think it is also inappropriate." Zhang Wenhong also said that the effectiveness of these vaccines can not be predicted now, because now the phase II clinical studies are all derived from antibody levels, The results must be in a phase III clinical study in areas with high incidence rates before they can be finally drawn.

In the next one to two years, we may have more effective drugs and vaccines. At present, prevention and control and treatment of the disease should be the mainstay.
