Deaths announced by age in Tokyo 90% of people in their 60s or older: New Corona 22:08 May 1

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has released a breakdown by age group of people who have died of being infected with the new coronavirus, and have revealed that approximately 60% or more make up about 60% of the total population.

126 people confirmed to be infected with the new coronavirus in Tokyo have died by the day. Of these, the city published a breakdown by age for 122 people, excluding the four who were confirmed.

As a result,
▽ no one died in their 30s or below and 100 or older, while
▽ 40s had 1 person,
▽ 50s had 9 persons,
▽ 60s had 18 persons,
▽ 70s had 40 persons,
▽ There are 38 people in their 80s
and 16 people in their 90s.

Over 60s account for about 90% of the total, and among the 70s, which is the most common, and the 80s, which is the next most, account for more than 60%, and deaths of the elderly are increasing.

Regarding this, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government believes that the outbreak of multiple infections at multiple hospitals has infected people with chronic illness, and that elderly people are more likely to become seriously ill.

By gender,
▽ 85 men and
▽ 37 women were more than double the number of women, and in the capital, there were a lot of cases of men being infected in the early stages of the epidemic and smoking. I think that one of the factors is that many men had chronic illnesses such as smoking.

The welfare and health department of the metropolitan government says, "Death is concentrated in the elderly, but we want younger generations to restrain themselves from spreading infections."
