Freelance announcer Miki Sumiyoshi was urgently admitted to the hospital due to pneumonia, and the results of the subsequent tests confirmed that she was infected with the new coronavirus.
According to the office, Mr. Sumiyoshi had a fever on the 16th of this month and continued to have a high fever the next day, so when he visited a medical institution on the 19th, he was diagnosed with pneumonia and was hospitalized urgently. And, as a result of the inspection, it was found that he was infected with the new coronavirus on the 22nd.
Mr. Sumiyoshi is still in the hospital, and the radio program that he was hosting has been suspended from appearance on the 20th.
Sumiyoshi is 47 years old. He joined NHK as an announcer in 1996, and has been active as a free announcer on TV and radio since 2011.
