"The support package enables Sweden to compensate activities that organize cultural events for economic damage caused by the difficult circumstances we are in," said Margrethe Vestager, executive vice-president of the European Commission, in a press release.

Affected businesses may receive lost revenue due to canceled or postponed events during the period 12 March to 31 May.

As previously reported, the Ministry of Culture has earmarked SEK 500 million in crisis support for the cultural sector.
