Linguists from all over the world have been gathered in an open spreadsheet to map what words are in the media to describe the corona crisis.

There are examples of similarities with everything from avalanches to roller coasters. Still, the most common is to declare war on the new enemy, the corona virus.

- The combat metaphor gives us a feeling that we can do something. That we are in control, that we can shop, says Anna W Gustafsson, associate professor of Swedish at Lund University.
