  • This sale imagined by the city of Lyon and organized by the company Agorastore aims to raise funds for the foundation of the Hospices Civils de Lyon.

A signed collector's jersey belonging to the famous basketball player Tony Parker or even the sneakers of the football player Amandine Henry. From this Wednesday until May 4, many objects that have marked the careers of high-level athletes will be auctioned online for charity. An operation organized by the city of Lyon, in the midst of the coronavirus crisis, and the online auction site Agorastore in order to raise funds for the foundation of the Hospices Civils de Lyon. 

At the origin of this solidarity sale, Lyon sports assistant Yann Cucherat, candidate for mayor and former professional gymnast, managed to convince many Lyonnais and national sportsmen in a few days. "More than fifty athletes have validated this approach and offered an object that has marked their career," said Yann Cucherat, who donated a tracksuit from the France gymnastics team, on Monday. The funds collected will be fully donated to the HCL foundation to allow the CHU de Lyon to acquire, in this major health crisis, "medical equipment and accelerate research" on the Covid-19, said the deputy.

Starting price at one euro

Each lot, visible today on Agorastore, will be sold at a symbolic euro. But the price could well soar at the whim of the auction until the highest bidder wins the item. “We should easily reach several tens of thousands of euros. The more there are bidders, the more we will help the foundation and our caregivers, ”adds Olivier Nataf, co-founder of Agorastore. A company usually specialized in the online auction of goods belonging to companies or communities.

Among the objects collected from sportspeople, the public will be able to acquire a jersey signed by the tennis player Rafael Nadal, a jersey from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by athlete Mélanie Robert-Michon (discus throw) and the presentation jacket of the final of the 2006 French Cup by Grégory Coupet, famous former goalkeeper of OL and the French team.

Former OL midfielder Sydney Govou donated a French Team jersey (France-China June 4, 2010 to Reunion). The cyclist Romain Bardet in his helmet of the best climber of the Tour de France 2019. And the double Olympic swimming champion Alain Bernard offered a swimsuit from the Cercle des Nageurs d'Antibes signed.
