is the sky this time last year. Breathing was very frustrating with cloudy fine dust, but this year the air feels much cleaner. Ultrafine dust is 27% less than a year ago.

Reporter Dong-Kyun Seo will tell you why.

I go out, I feel like the sky blue.

[Choi Seung-ho / Yangcheon-gu, Seoul: The sky seems a little better, and I can see it with my eyes… .]

Actually, by March this year, ultrafine dust had been reduced by 27% from the same period last year, and the number of fine dust 'bad' days was only half.

The reason why the air was so clear was analyzed by the research team at Ajou University, and the meteorological factors were 50%.

It is a weather map on February 14, and it is confirmed that in winter, clean east wind is blowing instead of northwest wind coming to Korea with fine dust from China.

The Siberian high pressure, which creates a warm northwest wind in the past winter, is not developing properly, so the day of the east wind is three times higher than last year.

The doubling of precipitation during this period also helped reduce fine dust.

The other half was analyzed for the reduction effect of domestic and foreign emissions.

In the aftermath of the Corona 19, only satellite images showed a significant reduction in pollutants in China, and about 30% of the reduction in fine dust in Korea was due to the decrease in emissions in China.

It was analyzed that the seasonal management system introduced in the past winter, such as the public vehicle second part system, and the aftermath of the Corona 19, reduced fine dust by 20%.

[Kim Soon-Tae / Professor, Department of Environmental Safety Engineering, Ajou University: The concentration of fine dust in China has also changed. In Korea, the reduction efforts during this winter also seemed to have played a significant role.]

Although said to have been reduced, the amount of fine dust in Korea still exceeds the standards recommended by the World Health Organization.

It means there is still a long way to go to improve air quality.
