His homesickness made him take reckless risks. Saturday, an Italian was arrested in Modane in Savoy by border police while he was aboard a taxi driving him to Turin, Italy, reports Le Dauphiné Libéré.

Wishing to return to his country despite the rules governing confinement, this Italian national had left Paris a few hours earlier by negotiating 1,000 euros for the journey from the capital to Italy.

A driver without a license

After crossing the border, the client realized the huge blunder he was committing and convinced his driver to turn around. Too late. The vehicle was stopped near the platform of the Fréjus tunnel by the police.

The Italian national was fined 135 euros for breaching confinement. The driver is at greater risk. The police indeed found that he drove the vehicle of a friend, taxi driver, too ill to carry out this more than juicy race, without being a taxi himself and having lost his driving license after withdrawing points .

The man who also fined 135 euros is prosecuted for illegal exercise of the taxi profession and for driving despite the cancellation of the driving license.
