Lomepal fans during the 35th edition of the Francofolies de la Rochelle festival - SADAKA EDMOND / SIPA

Every hour, its new cancellation. "The major festivals and events with a large audience will not be able to be held at least until mid-July", this was announced by Emmanuel Macron during his speech on Monday April 13. Since then, the organizers of the biggest concerts and festivals have gradually announced the award.

The Francofolies de la Rochelle festival, one of the major events for current summer music in France, has been canceled due to the consequences of the health crisis linked to the new coronavirus, organizers said on Tuesday. The Charentais event was to be held from July 10 to 14. It had gathered 150,000 festival-goers last year. The 36th edition is postponed to the same dates in 2021.

The Main Square Festival, scheduled for Arras from July 3 to 5, has also been canceled. "The 16th edition of the festival is postponed to July 2, 3 and 4, 2021, following the decisions of the French government," write the organizers in a press release. Tickets purchased this year "will be valid for 2021", but a refund mechanism will be put in place for those who wish. The festival welcomed nearly 115,000 people last summer.
