"The baccalaureate exams cannot take place in June or July (...) This means that we will have to organize these exams in a completely new way. The ax fell: Prime Minister Edouard Philippe recognized, on TF1 this Thursday evening, that it would not be possible for the high school students of Terminales, who already suspected a little, to pass the bac under normal conditions.

"What is almost acquired is that it is not possible that they can pass the baccalaureate under normal conditions," he explained. Because this "annual machinery" could not be implemented in good conditions.

"The interruption of courses, classes ... will have an impact on everyone's ability to respect the entire program," admitted Edouard Philippe. "It is therefore a given that the events will not be able to take place in June as every year". Consequently, the bac 2020 tests will have to be organized "in a completely new and original way", said the Prime Minister.

Two tracks considered

“Either they will take place on the basis of continuous monitoring, based on the first and second quarters. And if the courses can resume in good conditions during the month of May or June then the last quarter ”, will also count. "Either we can hope to combine with this complete continuous control a test which would be organized at the end of June", he added.

It is up to the Minister of National Education Jean-Michel Blanquer to instruct the subject, he specifies. "He will have the opportunity to specify very soon the conditions under which the bac 2020 will take place," said the Prime Minister. "For my part I believe that it is on the track of the most complete continuous monitoring that we will have to rest," he added, however.

Jean-Michel Blanquer was initially supposed to announce before the end of the week the option or options chosen by the government. It seems that it is not yet stopped.
