"In order to secure the presence on the territory of foreigners in a regular situation, and to avoid any questioning of the rights conferred on them by the residence document they possess, in particular the right to work and the benefit of social rights, the period of validity of documents (…) which expire from March 16 will be extended by three months ”, announced this Monday the Paris Prefecture of Police.

The documents concerned are as follows: long-stay visas, residence permits (with the exception of those issued to diplomatic and consular staff), provisional residence permits, asylum application certificates and application receipts residence permit.

Suspension of reception procedures

"Given the health context linked to the spread of the Covid-19 virus, the reception of applicants for residence permits in the prefectures is suspended until further notice," the authorities also stressed. The French Office of Immigration and Integration (OFII), a body under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior, for its part announced on Monday the suspension of "all procedures for welcoming the public outside the asylum procedure ”.

The training provided for under the Republican Integration Contract (CIR), such as French language courses, as well as medical examinations of foreigners also suspended. "All of our efforts are aimed at concentrating our forces for the maintenance of registration and the reception of asylum seekers," said the OFII.
