There were 211 on March 13. The Regional Health Agency (ARS) Paca counted 481 this Tuesday evening, in its new count. In four days, the number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 has more than doubled in the region.
And it is the department of Bouches-du-Rhône which is the hardest hit with 237 patients tested and diagnosed. Then follow the Alpes-Maritimes (104), the Var (95), the Hautes-Alpes (25), the Vaucluse (13) and finally the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence (7).
Four deaths since the start of the crisis
Among these cases, which gave or give rise to 128 hospitalizations, "22 people are in intensive care and four people tested positive died," says the ARS. "These are four people hospitalized in the Alpes-Maritimes, Bouches-du-Rhône and Vaucluse", specifies the organization.
"Faced with the increase in the number of cases, the systematic search for contacts has become useless," recalls the ARS. Testing all patients with symptoms would lead to saturation of the screening system. Only screening for serious cases and the collective structures of fragile people makes it possible to take immediate measures. "
