But where had Thierry Drapeau gone? Everyone was wondering, especially the customers of his Michelin-starred restaurant-hotel. The head of the Domaine de la Chabotterie, a renowned establishment located in Saint-Sulpice-le-Verdon (Vendée), has not given any news since the beginning of March. The Michelin-star restaurant was closed overnight, as was the four-star hotel.

No one answered the switchboard and some recorded reservations could not be honored, without any information being given to customers. On social networks, some even report, furious, to have already paid menus or overnight stays without having been able to benefit from it.

Family and economic adventure

The explanation finally fell on Wednesday. On his Facebook page, Thierry Drapeau, explains that he decided to leave France to join Vietnam, the country from which his partner comes. “Choosing to leave was a difficult choice. Days and nights sometimes weigh the pros and cons. And decide one morning, with a twinge of heart, that we will not change our minds any more. He also said he was involved in two restoration projects in Southeast Asia, one in Thailand, the other in Cambodia. No explanation is given, however, on the precipitous nature of the closure.

Aged 53, Thierry Drapeau lost a second Michelin star in 2019, which he obtained in 2011. The restaurant Le Domaine de la Chabotterie was opened in 2004 on the historic site of the Logis de la Chabotterie.
