All schools in Corsica will be closed from Thursday until March 29 to limit the spread of the new coronavirus, the prefecture announced on Wednesday.

"Additional measures, including the rallies, will be taken during the day" on Thursday, added the prefecture in a statement. Schools and nurseries were already closed for Monday and for 14 days in Ajaccio, considered to be a source of contamination or "cluster".

Gatherings of more than 50 people prohibited

All events gathering more than 50 people in confined spaces are also prohibited, a measure which targets cinemas, theaters, concert halls as well as all sports halls, discos or places of worship.
