It's the TV event of the beginning of the year! "Prodigal Son", the new TF1 event series, is broadcast from Tuesday March 10, and every Tuesday at 9:05 pm, in partnership with Europe 1. "Prodigal Son" follows the investigations of Malcolm Bright, a talent profiler who has the distinction of having a famous serial killer as his father. But the series above all tells of the troubled and ambiguous relationships that bind the different members of this family apart.

In 1998, Martin Whitly, a renowned doctor belonging to one of the most illustrious families in New York, was arrested by the police under the watchful eye of his wife and two children. Because the man is actually a terrible serial killer, the author of at least 23 murders, and nicknamed The Surgeon. At the origin of his capture, his young son Malcolm ... 21 years later, the little boy changed his last name and is now called Malcolm Bright.
Become special agent for the FBI, he brilliantly tracks serial killers across the country, relying on his unique ability to imagine crimes from the perspective of killers. However, his disrespect for the rules and his sometimes suicidal attitude led him to be dismissed from Quantico, his superiors fearing that he was suffering from psychotic disorders inherited from his father and linked to post-traumatic stress disorder. Indeed, suffering from uncontrolled tremors and particularly violent night terrors, Malcolm cannot sleep without medication and attaches himself to his bed every night. Uncertain about his future after his dismissal, he is approached by Gil Arroyo, a cop in the New York police, who has known him for over twenty years.
The latter, who wishes to have his opinion on an investigation, hires him as a consultant. As soon as he arrives at the crime scene, Malcolm recognizes his father's operating mode! As Gil suspected, the police are faced with a copycat that is replicating their crimes. To resolve this matter before the murderer makes a fourth victim, Malcolm hesitates to resume contact with his father, detained in prison ...

Broadcast on the American channel Fox since last September, "Prodigal Son" was one of the most watched novelties of the return to the United States. Good results that allowed it to be quickly extended for an entire season of 22 episodes. Created by Chris Fedak, already at the origin of the series "Chuck", and produced by Greg Berlanti ("Arrow", "Blindspot"), this police series tinged with humor stages an atypical new police consultant. Yorker since he is the son of a famous serial killer.
In the role of this extraordinary profiler, we find the British comedian Tom Payne, who sacrificed the long hair he had adopted for the role of Jesus in "The Walking Dead" for a wiser cut. The young man, traumatized by his past, maintains a complex relationship with his intrusive and manipulative mother, Jessica, interpreted by Bellamy Young ("Scandal"), but especially with his criminal and sadistic father. This disturbing character is embodied by Michaël Sheen ("Masters of Sex", "The Good Fight") currently at the cinema on the poster of "Voyage of Dr. Dolittle".
The investigative team that accompanies Malcolm is made up of Lou Diamond Phillips (revealed in the 80s at the cinema in "La Bamba") in the role of Gil Arroyo, the cop who helped him arrest his father; Aurora Perrineau in that of Dani Powell and Frank Harts in that of JT. Comedian Dermot Mulroney will complete the cast for several episodes at the end of the season.
