  • In order to raise awareness of wage inequalities, some Nantes bars, including Le Nid, are mobilizing.
  • They decided to fill only three-quarters of the glass for men, to symbolize the fact that they earn on average 25% more than women, in France.

"Two pints of amber please." Banal scene at the aperitif time. But in thirty bars in Nantes and the department, this sentence could give rise to awareness, especially if the customers are of different gender. Throughout the month of March, and echoing the women's rights day celebrated this Sunday, there is an original operation called "Fameuses hours", as part of the Printemps des Fameuses. The concept: serve men a glass filled only three-quarters, in order to materialize wage inequalities. In France, men earn on average 25% more than women (and the Pays de la Loire are no exception to the rule).

At the Comptoir du Nid, at the top of the Bretagne tower, a quarantine ticks when he notices the space between the foam and the top of his glass. A few seconds of floating, and the waiter reveals the pot of roses. "Ah, that surprises, reacts the client. I told myself that Nantes hospitality is not what it used to be! »A communication kit (posters, under bock) has been created to get the message across as well as possible. And to not offend anyone, the device obviously provides that the bartender adds the completely, after the explanation. "In most cases, it's going well," reports a waitress at Le Nid, where the operation was tested last year. In fact, it makes women laugh when they are with their spouse! "

The weight of representations

If that generally stays there, it is still an opportunity for some to engage a little more on the subject. Charlotte and Benoît, two former colleagues who work in a law firm, report having suffered less from wage inequalities than representations that are still very significant in companies, for example on the issue of children. “On the one hand, there is still a glass ceiling for women. We imagine that as mothers, they will have less time to devote to work, so it's harder for them to have access to responsibilities, ”they say. “On the other hand, it is not easy for a man to take paternity leave. When I did it, I was made to understand that it was not very well seen, ”says Benoît.

For the Printemps des Fameuses, the highlight of which is scheduled for March 20, the objective is to be able to talk about these subjects during "lighter moments", outside of the corporate sphere. But not everyone seems yet completely ready to receive the message ... "I thought this glass was intended for my wife, assures a man, in front of his incomplete half." I said to myself why not, since it does not hold alcohol very well! "
