  • The Prefecture of Police has sent its management a card explaining the attitude to adopt when a person suspected of being infected by the coronavirus comes to a police station.
  • On the other hand, the police officers affected outside the capital and the small crown have still not received specific instructions or details on the number of masks that the administration stores, denounce the unions after a CHSCT.
  • With another meeting scheduled for Monday, they hope to have their question answered. Otherwise, civil servants could exercise their right of withdrawal, threaten the trade union organizations.

"What should be done about a suspicious case? »To this question that the police have been asking since the coronavirus reaches France, the Prefecture of Police gives some elements of response in a note sent to its various departments and consulted by 20 Minutes . While the police officers posted outside the capital are still awaiting specific materials and instructions, the "PP", which enjoys a certain autonomy within the Ministry of the Interior, "proved to be quite reactive And was "the first to react," said Yvan Assioma, departmental secretary of the Alliance union.

The note, distributed at the end of February, helps officials in particular to identify a person who may be infected with the coronavirus: "they seem to be feverish", "have been coming back from a risky exposure zone for less than 14 days" and "are showing signs acute respiratory infection manifested by coughing or shortness of breath while at rest. " The police must then "equip the suspect case with a surgical mask", drive him "to an isolated room", "make him disinfect his hands with hydroalcoholic gel" and "call without delay on the 15th".

"Disinfect the area"

The various directorates of the Prefecture of Police declined this sheet with some clarifications. Officials from the local security directorate are therefore asked to confront a suspicious case to "stop the ventilation system in the police station", to "close access" to the building, to wear masks and "Materialize the exclusion zone" with a tape and "disinfect the area where the suspect person has passed", in particular "computer keyboards, doorknobs, screens for mobile phones and telephone handsets".

In addition to these reflex sheets, the Prefecture of Police distributed masks (the famous FFP2), gloves and hydroalcoholic gel to Parisian officials. "At our request, there was a meeting of the health, safety and working conditions committee (CHSCT) last Friday and there is now a weekly follow-up meeting", continues Yvan Assioma. The representative of the Alliance police union observes, on the other hand, that "difficulties remain in the outer suburbs, especially in the Yvelines and in Seine-et-Marne". A situation he hopes will be resolved quickly.

Right of withdrawal

While an extraordinary CHSCT met this Wednesday at the Ministry of the Interior for the police of the whole of France, the trade union organizations underline in a leaflet that "the decisions of the Prefecture of Police in matters of management of this health crisis are the most judicious to date ”. They regret the attitude of the general direction of the national police (DGPN) which is slow to transmit to the police stations located outside the capital of specific instructions "while the police are in contact with hundreds of thousands of people every day", regrets Linda Kebbab, national delegate of the union SGP police FO unit.

According to information from 20 Minutes , the direction of the national police has so far been limited to relaying prevention messages from the health authorities on its intranet. The DGPN “was not able to give us an inventory of the masks they have. Those that have been distributed are sometimes out of date because they date from avian flu, "says Linda Kebbab. The unions, who are also asking for the distribution of hydroalcoholic gel, gloves and soap in the police stations, hope to have their questions answered at the next meeting of the CHSCT, next Monday. "It should come as no surprise, otherwise, that colleagues are exercising their right of withdrawal," said the representative of the SGP police-FO unit.
