Today, India has closed all primary schools in the capital, New Delhi, until the end of March, and imposed new restrictions on arrivals from Italy and South Korea as part of efforts to combat the spread of the Coruna virus.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has postponed a trip to Brussels to attend a summit with European Union leaders later this month.

"The two sides agreed that, on the advice of the health authorities not to travel between regions, it would be wise to postpone the summit to a later date suitable for both parties," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ravesh Kumar said at a press conference.

The total incidence of coronavirus in India rose to 29 yesterday, from six at the beginning of the week.

A government statement said that travelers who visited Italy or South Korea will now be required to present a medical certificate that they are free of Corona virus, a temporary measure that will be applied from next week.

India has also suspended most visas for citizens of Japan, South Korea, Italy, Iran and China, in addition to suspending visas for any travelers who visited the five countries since February.
