Portuguese prosecutors and tax authorities have put the homes and properties of former Spanish football star Iker Casillas, a number of club heads and players' agents under investigation in a broad investigation into suspicion of tax fraud, the Portuguese newspaper "Sabado" confirmed today.

Investigations have begun in this case, which includes Casillas, the likely candidate for the presidency of the Spanish Football Federation, and the famous player agent Jorge Mendes, based on leaked documents revealed by Roy Pinto, one of the Internet pirates in the "Football League" case.

The newspaper "Sabado" revealed, about a month ago, that the investigations focused on contracts related to the rights to exploit the image of a number of professional football players in addition to commissions submitted to third parties who acted as mediators in some of the players' transfers.

The main suspicion among the investigators is that a number of clubs, sports companies, administrative officials, players, coaches, ball managers, players' agents and lawyers have resorted to fictitious accounts documents in order to inflate the costs and avoid paying the taxes due.

The former Spanish international goalkeeper, Casillas, played for the Portuguese Porto team after his departure from Real Madrid, but was forced to retire on February 18, after a period of his departure from the stadiums due to health conditions.

In contrast, agent Jorge Mendes has contracts with several prominent players, such as Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, and coaches such as Jose Mourinho.
