Brittany wants its emoji and intends to make it known until February 9 on Twitter. - J. Gicquel / 20 Minutes

A real surge! If you've been on Twitter for the past few weeks, you couldn't have escaped it. Since January 13, several tens of thousands (303,668 at the last count) of Breton flag emojis have flourished on the social network. But all this Breton wave that floods Twitter will end on Sunday with the deactivation of the emoji. To come back later? This is what the region hopes, which, through this communication operation, hopes to convince the GAFAs to definitively adopt the Breton colors on their platform.

Over 300,000 #emojibzh generated! #Brittany exceeds, on average monthly, Norway 🇳🇴, Hungary 🇭🇺 or Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿. Thank you ! 😍
Objective Ille-et-Vilaine to 350,000 mentions to exceed Finland 🇫🇮 and Denmark 🇩🇰! 🚀🔥https: //t.co/C6gqmnsqp4 pic.twitter.com/WuIsSX1CEZ

The answer will come from the Unicode consortium, which gathers web giants and which is responsible each year for validating the creation of new emojis. Its next session will be held in April. "We hope to have our emoji in 2021, it is now vital for the region to be present everywhere on the planet," says David Lesvenan, president of the association Point BZH.

As the #emojibzh operation comes to an end, 20 Minutes gives voice to its readers, whether they are Breton or not. Do you think Brittany is right to fight for its flag to become an emoji? And if it is adopted, will you use it in your discussions? Do other regions also deserve to have their emoji on social networks? You can testify by filling out the form below. Your answers will be used to write a future article. Thank you in advance !
