On the night of the 6th at the shrine in Shingu City, Wakayama Prefecture, which is registered as a World Heritage Site, the "Oto Festival" was held in which men with flaming torches ran down steep stone steps all at once.

The Goto Matsuri of Kamikura Shrine in Shingu City is a gorgeous fire festival in which men with torches ran down steep stone steps with 538 steps, hoping for a good harvest and safety in the house. It is designated as an important intangible folk cultural property.

On the night of the 6th, about 1800 men, dressed in white costumes and wrapped with rough ropes around their hips, gathered at a shrine on the hillside.

When the priest started "Goshinka", a large torch was transferred to the torch held by the participants, and the entire area was dyed with flame.

At about 8 pm when the gate opened, the men jumped out of the burning torch and ran down the stone steps.

A 16-year-old male high school student from Shingu City said, "I asked for home security and world peace. I was so excited that I was not afraid to run down the stone steps."

A 4-year-old boy said, "It was fun. I asked you to be smart."
