Pakistani police said today that a woman had cut the penis of a man accused of trying to rape her.
Police official Muhammad Ilyas told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that the 25-year-old woman used a knife to defend herself from an attempted assault by a man who broke into her residence in the central Punjab province.
The woman told the police that she was alone when the man stormed her home and tried to paralyze her movement. Then I rushed to the kitchen, brought a knife and cut his penis when he tried again to locate her, according to Elias, citing the woman's account.
Elias added that the 28-year-old man is being treated in the hospital in Faisalabad, and that he will be interrogated as soon as his condition improves.
It is reported that hundreds of women are raped in Pakistan annually, but those who commit sexual assault are rarely punished because of the weak laws and complex procedures of court cases.
