Sam Mendes won the Baftas for Best Director and Best Film for "1917" on Sunday February 2 at the British Film Awards ceremony in London. Already awarded the Golden Globes and nominated for an Oscar, the 54-year-old British director won before Martin Scorsese ("The Irishman"), Todd Philipps ("Joker"), Quentin Tarantino ("Once Upon a Time ... in Hollywood ") and Bong Joon-Ho (" Parasite "), in both categories.

Historical action film, "1917" follows spectators on the journey of two British soldiers during the First World War, giving the illusion of a long sequence shot.

The American Renée Zellweger won the Bafta for best actress for her interpretation of the legendary actress and singer Judy Garland in the biopic "Judy". Joaquin Phoenix, meanwhile, won the Bafta for best actor for his title role in the film "Joker".
