Riots erupted in Irbid, northern Jordan, today, Saturday, after the owner of Basta committed suicide by hanging after the municipality confiscated his authority.

Protesters closed Al-Quds Street with rocks and rubber tires, after twenty committed suicide by hanging, due to the confiscation by the Irbid Municipality of its authority.

They pointed out that the municipality more than once confiscated its authority, which is the only source of its income, demanding accountability for those responsible for confiscating the rugs and referring them to the judiciary.

In turn, the inspector general of the municipality, Muayyad Dadahah, denied that the municipality confiscated his authority these days, stating that the last confiscation of the carpet was a month ago, and was returned to him the next day.

He pointed out that the security services cordoned off the municipality as a precaution.
