The school building was flooded by typhoon 19 last year, and the opening ceremony was held at an elementary school in Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture, where some schoolchildren attended another school.

Nagamori Elementary School in Azumi-cho, Koriyama-shi was flooded by typhoon 19 last October, and the school building became unusable.

On the 2nd and 3rd floors where the restoration work has been completed, classes for special support classes have resumed since last month, with more than 3rd graders, but the 1st and 2nd graders are taking classes in different elementary school buildings.

On the 8th, the opening ceremony was held at the gymnasium of the restored elementary school, and approximately 290 children from all schools attended.

Principal Shigemasa Ochisato said, "Let's do our best to renew our feelings and become the year of hope. Please wait a little more until the first and second graders can return."

After the ceremony, first and second graders boarded a bus to move to another elementary school building.

On the other hand, the remaining children started their school life by submitting homework for winter vacation and announcing their goals for the third semester.

On the first floor of the school building, renovation of the floor is continuing, and it is expected that the first and second graders will return in the middle of next month.
